Ocean Union Successfully Conducts MSC Chain of Custody Training with C.M. Blue Crab (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka

Bali, Indonesia – 25 October 2025 — Ocean Union proudly supported Udayana Basic Expedition 2025, a scientific marine expedition conducted in Jemeluk Bay, Bali, as part of a shared commitment to advancing marine conservation and ocean sustainability.

Ocean Union successfully conducted an MSC Chain of Custody (CoC) Training in collaboration with C.M. Blue Crab (Pvt) Ltd (CMBC), reinforcing our shared commitment to sustainability, traceability, and responsible seafood sourcing.

Held on 25–26 May 2026, the training was designed to strengthen the team’s understanding of MSC requirements and prepare them for the upcoming MSC CoC certification audit. Key topics included MSC standards, product traceability systems, segregation requirements, documentation, and compliance throughout the seafood supply chain.

This initiative reflects the strong partnership between Ocean Union and CMBC in advancing sustainable seafood practices while ensuring transparency and accountability across global seafood markets.

The upcoming MSC CoC audit will follow the completion of the full assessment currently underway for the North-Western Sri Lanka Blue Swimming Crab Fishery. Ocean Union and CMBC are proud supporters of the Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) that has contributed to the fishery’s progression toward MSC assessment.

Achieving MSC CoC certification would represent a significant milestone, positioning CMBC among the pioneering seafood processors globally to pursue certification for MSC-certified Blue Swimming Crab products. This demonstrates a shared dedication to promoting sustainable fisheries, responsible sourcing, and market transparency throughout the region.

At Ocean Union, we believe that collaboration, traceability, and responsible sourcing are fundamental to building a more sustainable future for the seafood industry. We are proud to work alongside CMBC and other partners who share this vision.
